January has almost come to an end, and as we finish off the first month of the year. The most anticipated week of the social calendar begins! Men’s and haute couture fashion week!! No, seriously, I guarantee you, every so called Fashionista will (gladly) trade over their favorite Chanel python pochette for a front row ticket to one of the shows. It’s not joke!
Thankfully, I didn’t have to trade anything to attend New York fashion week for my first time in September, and let me tell you… It definitely raised the bar for me and made me fall deeper in love with the industry. Ou girl! The level of effort and work needed just to gain access to even a smaller fashion show is unreal. My advice to anyone trying to attend either. You must plan everything properly I cannot stress this enough.. or else you will be stuck outside with PETA.
Knowing how hard New York was, I worked my but off for a month for PFWM… I got a ton of no’s but greatfully got a few good invites. I was so excited! But life threw a curve ball, and I wasn’t able to fly out to Paris. I’m sad, There’s always next season right?
I was most looking forward to attending the Balmain menswear show. Balmain…It’s the epitome of the perfect fashion label for me. Casual street yet red carpet worthy. I watched the show live online. Ou girl! I spotted Jeffrey Stars in the crowed right away, and I was so glad to see my new favorite it girl Sofia Riche sitting front row.
The show had 82 looks, and I swear I would wear (almost) everything. The Balmain show always stands out for me. I feel like the collection was made for me.
Ask anyone, I’ve been OBESSING for the classic army print being re-introduced to the fashion world. But the trend never seemed to catch on again for some reason… I remember my sister for berated me for wearing army pants again once. But hey! If Olivier Rousting incorporated army pants into his collection. I must have done something right with my outfit! Take that sister!
I also absolutely LOVED the black suede’s jackets and capes with studs on them. (Look 37, 40 & 41) Suede is always nice.. But I also noticed that shearling is making a huge return. Black on black and brown both made a an appearance on the runway. I loved the concept of the long shearling trench with detachable bottoms.(look 18)
Balmain also found the perfect shade of ivory because that winter white cape (look 32) … and the with bomber jacket with all the embroideries (Look 29)… YAS! YAS!! YAS!!
Olivier Rousting … you did it once again. I absolutely adored this collection and cannot with for your Womenswear show next month. ( FYI I will be buying everything from this collection #SorryMomAndDad)
Until next time
