My magical winter staycation at The Ritz Montreal – #TravelingDuringCovid19

Covid-19 has affected all of us in many ways… I used to travel regularly to various different cities for work. But having been stuck at home since the global lockdowns began in March of 2020…I have been in DESPERATE need of a change of scenery.  The pandemic really took its toll on me and it was finally time to hit refresh.

The Ritz Montreal has always been a hotel on my bucket list. Just like many other cities –  Montreal was also under lockdown. Traveling anywhere during a pandemic is risky. But having done some major re-search prior to booking this trip. I knew the Ritz Montreal would be a safe and clean travel destination due to their unparalleled global reputation for Covid-19 safety regulations.

My first impression of this hotel? BREATHTAKING! Upon entering the lobby after  being greeted by door staff. You set foot in The Palm Court, one of the city’s most glamorous hotel restaurant & bars! Offering two different experiences to guests – The tea experience (High Tea) or the lounge experience in collaboration with Dom Pérignon. The Palm Court has its own European charm to it. This was hands down one of my favourite area of the entire hotel. It was closed during my visit. However, I can definitely see myself coming back to Montreal for champagne at the newly renovated Dom bar.

I stayed in a One-bedroom suite that was fully equipped with a walking closet, fireplace, heated marble washroom floors, rain shower, Toto Japanese digital toilet with heated seat and an oversized deep soak bathtub. One key feature that I’ve actually never seen before was the motion activated lights in the floor that would guide you at night. I’ve stayed in my fair share of luxury hotels…But that is definitely a feature I’ve never seen before.

During my staycation, I also had the opportunity to indulge in a much deserved gourmet experience from one of Montreal finest French restaurants, Maison Boulud.  All the restaurants in Montreal were still closed due to provincial restrictions. But this didn’t stop me from enjoying a 3-Michelin star meal in the comfort and safety of my room. The hotels also offers 24/7 in-room dining services. If you like having breakfast in bed like me, I would highly recommend the French crepe’s with maple syrup… They are heavenly!

Established in 1912, This 5-star hotel sets the standards for luxury in Canada with a striking blend modern and historic elements. I can’t wait to visit The Ritz Montreal. Thank you for making me feel alive!
